ALL CAMPERS & THEIR PARENTS ARE REQUIRED TO sign THIS CODE OF CONDUCT agreement as part of the Camp Biluim acceptance criteria

1. Camp Biluim is committed to providing a safe camp environment where relationships are characterized by dignity, respect, and equitable treatment. Campers are expected to respect themselves, respect others, and respect our camp facilities at all times.

2. Campers understand that they do not have the right to negatively affect the experience of any other person at camp and that this will lead to their dismissal from camp. Campers will not bully, coerce, use hateful language, sexually harass, demean or threaten other campers or staff. Any report of sexual harassment or misconduct or other illegal behaviour will be re-directed to the appropriate authorities.

3. Camp Biluim Canada is The Leadership Institute of Canadian Young Judaea. Participants were accepted to the program with the understanding that they have a level of maturity that matches the mission of our program. As such, our campers understand that their staff were not hired to be disciplinarians. It is understood and appreciated that it is not fair to the rest of our campers or the rest of our staff team when a staff member is forced to spend an inordinate amount of time disciplining one camper because it decreases the amount of time and attention that the staff member is able to devote to their other campers and to the development and implementation of our program. As such, it is understood that any participant whose behaviour causes such disruptions may, at the discretion of the Director, be dismissed from the Program.

4. When directed, campers will stay with their assigned group under appropriate supervision.

5. Campers will not leave the campgrounds unless they are under the supervision of our staff on a camp-related program.

6. Campers will attend all scheduled activities, meals, and programs unless excused and they will use the time allotted for travel so that they arrive on time.

7. Campers will follow set curfew hours and stay in their tents after lights out.

8. Every camper is assigned a tent which will be their home for the summer. Campers are not permitted to be in each other's tents after the time designated by the staff each evening. Furthermore, campers understand that they are living in a communal environment and that they are sharing their tents with other people and that engaging in sexual activity in a shared space is inappropriate and not fair to their tentmates.

9. To demonstrate respect for others and ourselves, only appropriate language is acceptable. Profanity and hateful language is strictly forbidden at camp.

10. The parents or guardians of any camper that is involved in any vandalism or defacement of camp property will be required to pay for any materials, parts, or labour necessary to repair or replace the damaged property. Campers involved may be required to participate in the repair of the damage.

11. Gambling is not permitted.

12. All participants must dress and care for themselves. On extremely hot and sunny days, campers must wear hats, cover up exposed skin, use sunscreen and drink enough water. Campers must wear appropriate footwear such as shoes when playing sports. Campers must always wear a personal flotation device when on a boat, small craft or when using our water playground. Participants who do not follow these policies may, at the discretion of the Director and staff on the program, be removed from portions of the program.

13. Prescription medications are to be taken by the camper who was prescribed the medication. Such medications are not to be shared, traded, or sold by or given to any other participant.

14. Campers will adhere to all COVID-19 policies and procedures that may be in effect this season.

15. Campers will not possess, consume or use alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, or vaporisers.

16. Campers will not pierce or tattoo any part of their body while at camp.

17. Campers will not use or be in possession of beepers, cell phones, SIM cards, computers, devices with screens, gaming consoles, pornography, candles, matches, lighters, incense, laser lights, fireworks, hot plates/kettles, mosquito coils, skateboards, water balloons, weapons or anything that may threaten, harm, or intimidate others or oneself.

18. Camp Biluim Canada reserves the right to search any camper’s belongings upon arrival at camp or during the camp season should we suspect any violation of the above policies, the whole at the Camp’s discretion. If any of the items listed above are found, they will be confiscated. Phones that are found over the course of the summer season that were not willingly handed in by the camper on the first day of camp, will be confiscated and donated to a local charity.

19. CYJ, its affiliated summer camps and Israel Programs have adopted a one-year out policy. Participants dismissed from Camp Biluim Canada will not be eligible to participate on Biluim Israel next season.
